Kerala Aims to Tap into Arab Tourism Market with Indo-Arab Connect 2026 Summit
As the sun dips over the lush forests of Kerala, India's southwestern state is gearing up for a unique celebration - the Indo-Arab Connect 2026 tourism summit. The two-day event, set to take place in Kochi from August 31st, promises to be a game-changer for the region's hospitality and wellness sectors.
At the launch of the event's logo, Kerala Tourism Minister PC Vishnunath expressed his excitement about the potential that Arab tourists hold in driving growth for the state. "Arab tourism market could play an important role in the growth of sectors such as Ayurveda tourism, medical tourism, luxury travel and related industries in the state," he said.
And it's no wonder why. The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, comprising Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Egypt, have been among Kerala's largest international visitor groups for some time now. In fact, travellers from these countries account for a significant share of inbound tourism to the state.
But what's behind this trend? According to Vishnunath, the GCC market is strategically important because visitors from the region typically travel during Kerala's June-to-September monsoon season - a traditionally slower period for domestic travel. This influx of international tourists helps support hotel occupancy and tourism-related businesses across the state.
As the demand for wellness, medical tourism, and luxury experiences continues to grow among Arab travellers, Kerala is poised to capitalize on this trend. The Indo-Arab Connect 2026 summit aims to strengthen business links between Indian tourism providers and travel companies in the Gulf and wider Middle Eastern region.
The event will bring together over 300 exhibitors, including tourism boards, hotels, hospitals, Ayurveda centers, tour operators, and aviation companies from across India, the GCC, and other prime Middle Eastern markets. Industry representatives and travel buyers are also expected to participate in the two-day extravaganza.
A highlight of the event will be a business-to-business networking session on September 1st, where over 200 tour operators and travel buyers from Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, and Iran will connect with Indian tourism providers. This unique opportunity is expected to foster new partnerships and deals in the region.
Following the summit, a familiarization tour across Kerala will take place from September 2nd to 9th, showcasing the state's wellness, cultural, and luxury tourism offerings. Delegates are invited to experience the best of Kerala's hospitality firsthand - from the tranquil backwaters to the majestic Western Ghats mountains.
The Indo-Arab Connect 2026 summit is set to be a picnic for the eyes and soul, bringing together the best of Indian and Middle Eastern cultures in one grand celebration. With its unique blend of business networking, cultural exchange, and tourism promotion, this event is sure to leave a lasting impact on the region's hospitality sector.
And as the sun dips over Kerala's lush forests once more, it's clear that the state is ready to take center stage on the global tourism map - with Arab tourists at the forefront.
