The partnership between Comcast and the Philadelphia 76ers, in collaboration with North10 Philadelphia, has resulted in the implementation of cutting-edge technology and workforce resources in the North Philadelphia community. The organizations held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lenfest Center, a community-based nonprofit that serves the Hunting Park and East Tioga neighborhoods through programs focused on education, employment, and community development.
The upgraded spaces at North10 provide residents with access to free Xfinity WiFi, computers, and other technology, enabling them to utilize digital learning platforms, job search tools, and career development resources. Comcast has invested over $150,000 in upgrades and support, with an additional $20,000 grant announced during the event.
The partnership has also led to the creation of a youth basketball clinic, hosted by Comcast employee volunteers, with Franklin, the 76ers' mascot, and Squad 76 participating. Students received school supplies and sports equipment, highlighting the organization's commitment to supporting local youth.
"This partnership with Comcast enables us to invest in the next generation by providing educational resources, career development opportunities, and support systems to youth and their families in the North Philadelphia community," said Mike Goings, Philadelphia 76ers vice president of social responsibility and fan development.
