But for now, the spotlight shines brightly on the lower chamber, where lawmakers have one major task ahead: passing a bill to keep government funded into December. A daunting task, indeed.
But Republicans face a far more pressing concern: a torrent of questions about the words and actions of President Donald Trump while they were away. The latest U.S.-Iran strikes have left many wondering what the long-term plan is in Iran, and what role Congress will play in shaping that strategy. The President insists he's in "no hurry," but Congressional Republicans have long told me they want this war to be over with weeks.
Meanwhile, Venezuela has given the U.S. rights to 17 untapped oil fields, a move that has left many experts warning that the deal is murky and its meaning unclear.
